We had a dog who loved to bite, well my neighbor said that when they bite you just grab their lower jaw and clamp down with your palm to their teeth and say no, or there is this stuff you can buy in the store to put on your finger right before you play with it, then if it bites you then it tastes the icky taste and eventually will start connecting icky taste to bite and not do it anymore, but if you skip it even once you have to start all over. Hope this helps!
the puppy is probably teething,so try him out on teething toys (for babys)
My puppy is having a similar problem. I usually stand up, fold my arms, and ignore her when she bites. Whatever you chose to do, be consistent, and make sure if there are other people in the household that they are being consistent too.
couple of ways 1 is to us a tiny squirt bottle 2 flick it on the nose 3 train it the meaning of ow(i have done it before with other dogs i just say ow there ears go down and they know they hurt me)train it by pulling its ear a little not enough to hurt it to much but say ow whenever you do pull its ear.4shove your hand in its mouth further like a snake . 5 it could just be teething so even if you so train it to stop biteing you it could jew your furiture.
tie its mouth shut.
Many different methods to try.
The course below has puppy biting and even some tricks you can teach.
Its Called “Puppy Schooling / Tricks”
When he is biting give a chew toy to replace what he is biting and praise him when he takes the chew toy. It show only take about a week of this for him to figure out hes only allowed to chew his toy. Make it fun for him and he will do what you want time and time again. Getting mad and hitting a dog only sets the training back. Good luck and remember praise and repetition.
First off: Puppies naturally mouth and bite each other. — It’s the way they play. — I have two six month old puppies in the floor play biting each other right this minute.
The mouthing/biting usually becomes a problem when they are separated from their litter mates, as they transfer that biting/mouthing instinct to whatever creature is handy. — Usually that is the new owner.
There are several ways to teach a puppy not to bite YOU.
First: With very young puppies, you can’t really scold them, they are just babies! So you will use the distraction method. — You simply give them something to play with in place of your hands.
Every puppy that I sell goes home with a big teddy bear. — I tell the new owners that is the “beat-up bear.” That bear is for the puppy to play with and ‘beat up”. — I tie a braided rope around the bears neck, and the owner is instructed to hold onto that rope, (at the back of the bears neck, to keep their hands out of the reach of those little needle teeth) and shake the bear for the puppy. — The puppy will take out a lot of their biting instincts on that “beat-up bear.”
When I want to hold the puppy on my lap and want it to be quiet, I hold a “Greenie” in my hand and them the mouth/chew on it.
When the puppy is a litttle older, if he is still trying to bite at your hands, any time the puppy’s teeth contact with your skin, you yelp and say OUCH in a sharp voice. Then you immediately get up and leave the room and ignore the puppy for a short while. — The puppy should learn in a short time that his teeth are never to touch your bare skin.
Good Luck with that new puppy!
