My husband and I will be vacationing in a couple months and I was wondering about experiences you’ve had with pet-sitters. Our recently acquired 2 year old female cat is very unsocial and hides when anyone enters our home. She is extremely affectionate and attached to the two of us. I am worried about leaving her (I never have) and am thinking of choosing a pet sitter in our area to come twice a day. I will not board her, that is not an option. The only problem with this is her dislike of anyone other than me and my husband. Do you think she’ll settle with our being gone and actually allow the pet sitter to visit & play with her? Thoughts??

it depends on how long you will be gone. if you will only be gone for a week or less, than you can just leave lots of food and water and maybe 2 or 3 litter boxes and she should be fine by herself. if you are going to be gone longer than a week, i would find someone to come over and feed/water her and change her litter. if you are going to have someone come over while you are gone, you should have a friend that can come over at least once a week while you are there and try to get the cat to bond with them so that it’s not some complete stranger or i think your cat will be scared.
